    Did you forget to order your 2022-2023 FHS Yearbook? Or saw the yearbook, and now you want to purchase one? Well, you are in luck! There are a limited number of them on sale now for $30 per yearbook. See Mrs. Williams in the library or contact one of the yearbook staff members.

     

    CMU will be hosting an Esports Day on Saturday, March 2nd.  This day includes a student panel with an admission representative, a campus tour, lunch, and a few hours in our Esports facility where you will be able to play. Please see the flyer for the event that was shared to your email. If you are interested, you will scan the QR code to RSVP.

     

    Jostens met with the Class of 2026 on Friday, January 26th to discuss class rings and letterman jackets. Ordering Day is Thursday, February 1st, in the FHS Library from 3-4pm.     Juniors are selling lollipops to raise money for prom. The cost is 1 for $2.00 or 3 for $5.00.

     

    Juniors are also selling cake pops for Valentine's Day. Send a treat to your SWEET! Or send one to your favorite teacher or homie to show how much you appreciate them.  Orders will be taken during lunch and 8th hour or find a junior to place your orders. One cake pop and a special message costs $2.00

     

    All Freshmen have been asked to donate at least 1 or 2 dollars (more if you are feeling generous) for the Pink Out silent auction basket. Please bring your money to Mrs. Atterbury or Mr. Bishop by Feb 2nd (this Friday).

     

    Friendly reminder from your principal: Remove ear buds and put cell phones away while you are ordering lunch. Removing ear buds and putting your phone away will help the cooks out tremendously. Thank you!

     

    Students that need to see Mrs. Shepard, please use the QR code posted around the school to set up an appointment. You may also email her if you can’t access those QR codes.

     

    Scholar Bowl Team practices will be every Wednesday and Thursday during 8th hour.

     

    Jostens graduation orders should now be done online at www.thegraduationcenter.com Extra packets and order forms are located at the office and the library.

     

    Addison Powell has a letterman jacket for sale for $200.00. Please see her for details.

     

    Seniors: Please do not park in the four parking places nearest the building next to the football field or the parking place adjacent to the disabled spaces. These are reserved for the Parents as Teachers Play Center.

     

    Students who have loaner Chromebooks from the Library need to return them ASAP. We will not be able to check out loaners if they are not returned at the end of the hour/day of which you are using the computer. If you have already received your one-to-one personal Chromebook, make sure you bring those to school every day. Loaners are needed for students that have yet to receive their personal Chromebook. When you return your loaner Chromebooks, please make sure you place them back on the chargers.

     

    THERE SHOULD BE NO LIVESTREAMING DURING SCHOOL. Cell phones are only to be used by teacher's permission. Violations of this rule will result in a discipline referral.

    State Technical College of Missouri will be hosting an open house on Saturday, March 16th, for interested students. This would be a good opportunity for you and your families to tour their campus and learn more about specific programs that you might be interested in. See the information below...

     Show Me State Tech-SAVE THE DATE!!!

    You are invited to participate in State Technical College of Missouri’s Show Me State Tech in March.  Show Me State Tech Open House provides students and family members the opportunity to visit our campus in Linn, MO on Saturday, March 16. Students and family members can interact with current students, alumni, and faculty, and see our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.  Click here to access the online registration form.

     

    Mrs. Shepard has a few applications for the 2024 Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers Scholarship. Only students who are children of Ray-Carroll members or members of Ray-Carroll themselves are eligible for this scholarship. The deadline for the scholarship is Wednesday, February 14th. Stop by my office to pick up your application.

    The AGA Mid-Missouri Chapter is now accepting applications for our Skip Eno Memorial Scholarship Program for Undergraduate college students.  For more information and to apply, please visit our website at:  https://midmoaga.org/Awards_Scholarships  Applications are due no later than May 1, 2024. I have a few applications in my office. AGA is the association for connecting and empowering professionals who support the government, from financial management to IT, human resources, cybersecurity and more, to accelerate their careers. We work together to advance good government initiatives and improve citizen trust in government.

     

    The American Sportsman Forever (ASF) organization is accepting scholarship applications from students in Howard County based on their passion for hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting sports, and conservation. Applicants must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year college, technical, or trade school of their choice. Applications are due by April 1st and are non-renewable. Please stop by Mrs. Shepard's office to pick up an application.

    Here is a scholarship opportunity from the Insurance Professionals of Mid-Missouri. The top applicant will receive a $750 scholarship. The scholarship is open to any high school seniors graduating in the 2023-24 school year, who have been accepted to an accredited college or university following graduation, and currently attend high school in one of the following counties: Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, and Randolph.

    Candidates will write an essay on the following topic:

    The insurance industry is constantly changing and is subject to many industry

    disrupters. How should insurance companies embrace and implement

    emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence or big data analytics, and

    what are the concerns with doing so?

    Essay format:

    • Double-spaced

    • Normal, one-inch margins

    • Font Times New Roman, size 12

    • 2-3 pages

    • If you use resources, attach an additional page for works cited

    Note: Please include a cover sheet that states your name, telephone number, mailing address, email address, the school you attend, and the college you plan to attend. DO NOT show your name on the essay itself. Essays will be judged anonymously. Application essays must be attached to the email as a PDF or Word document.

    Project 21 2024 Scholarship Program provides students an opportunity to disseminate their message by writing an article or creating a poster or video addressing the issue of underage gambling. Project 21 Scholarships will be awarded for 2024 as follows: One $2,500.00 First Prize, and Three $1,500.00 Second Prizes. Applications and guidelines for the scholarship were sent to your emails. Please see Mrs. Shepard if you need a copy or have any questions. The scholarship deadline is March 1, 2024.

    Good Shepherd Hospice is now accepting applications for student volunteers. This is a great opportunity to learn about a new career and add to your resume. Some of the programs include:

    • Social work

    • Human Services/Sociology

    • Theology

    • Gerontology/Family Studies

    • Office Administrative Programs

    • Future medical students

    • Future nursing students

    My name is Wendy Cox, and I am the scholarship chairman for the MO JCI Senate Scholarship program. Graduating High School Seniors for the 2023-2024 school year have the opportunity to win a $500 state scholarship and be in the running for a $1000 National scholarship opportunity through the US JCI Senate. I have attached the link for the scholarship application and checklist which must be included. We also offer a scholarship for students not going to college but a trade school.     My name is Dror Liebenthal, CEO of Bold.org, the largest independent scholarship provider in the US with millions of students.

    We've recently launched the $18K Ryan Yebba Memorial Mental Health Scholarship, and we'd love to receive more applications across the country. Since the application deadline is coming soon, we're hoping to collaborate with Fayette High School to help fight student debt by sharing the news.

     

    Here are the basic details of our scholarship:

     

    If you plan to attend SFCC next fall, you may now begin applying for scholarships. SFCC Scholarship Application opened November 15th. The priority deadline to apply is March 1, 2024. See the attached picture for more information and links.

    The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and desire to contribute to society. Students who are eligible to be considered for this scholarship need to meet the following criteria:

    • Be enrolled as a full-time high school junior, graduating in 2024

    • Be committed to pursuing a bachelor's degree

    • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

    • Maintain a GPA of 2.0

    • Be a US citizen

    • Demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross income is required)

    • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
