Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Patrick Tray

I was born in Ottumwa, Iowa in 19-something. I grew up in Iowa, Kansas, and Oklahoma. I graduated high school in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. My undergraduate degree in Business Administration is from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (Go Savages!) in Durant, Oklahoma. After college I lived on the Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo County for 12 years. In 2001 I moved to Columbia to be closer to family. I am the sixth of seven children, and I was missing everyone while living so far away.

I went into teaching late in life. After moving to Columbia, I enrolled in the SMARRT Program at the University of Missouri. There I received my teaching certificate and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I began my teaching career at Douglass High School, where I taught Math to at-risk students. I later enrolled at William Woods University where I earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Administration. My first administration experience came as the Rock Bridge Summer School principal before becoming the K-12 principal at Prairie Home. I was at Prairie Home for five years before coming to Fayette, and I am VERY excited to be here.

I love travel, photography, riding my bike on the trails in Columbia, reading, gardening, and almost anything outdoors. I've visitied all 50 states and so far.... 42 countries. This summer my nephew and I had a fantastic time visiting the Great Northwest and Alaska.  While in Washington, we hiked to the westernmost point in the continental U.S.  It was worth the walk.  The previous summer, my niece and I had a really cool European vacation. One of our major stops was Iceland. It was the first time I had ever been there, and it was the most unique place I've ever seen. We also spent time in and around Austria. I think Austria and Slovenia are two of the prettiest countries. My favorite part of the trip was taking bicycles on a river boat that sailed three hours up the Danube, and then riding them back downstream. It was so fun and beautiful.

I am very much looking forward to my second year at FHS.  The first one was excellent.  This is a wonderful school and community.  Let's have a great year, and GO Falcons!
