    Big compliments to Kay Sullivan for being selected Academic All-State. Kay is 1 of 31 seniors throughout the state to receive this honor.


    Congratulations to Kay Sullivan, Oakleigh Hill, Kaleb Friebe, and Payton Oeth for being selected to the 2024 KMZU Class 2 Basketball Dream Team. Both Lady Falcon Basketball players, Oakleigh Hill and Kay Sullivan, also earned the honor of being a part of the 2024 Central Missouri Media All District Teams. Oakleigh represented FHS on the 1st Team and Kay on the 2nd Team. 


    FHS Junior/Senior Prom will start at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 20th at Linn Memorial UMC on the campus of Central Methodist University. Grand March starts at 6:00 pm at the Howard County Courthouse. If you have an outside date, please get a form from the office. Deadline for outside dates is on Tuesday, April 16th by 12:03 pm.


    The Kinder Institute at Mizzou hosts a one-week summer camp for rising juniors and seniors interested in American history and American politics. There are two opportunities to attend this camp: July 8-12 and July 22-26. Attached is a one-page flyer with more information and a link to the online application. The deadline to apply is April 1 and students will be notified no later than April 30. There is a $100 cost to participate which may be waived for students with financial need.


    The vending machine card reader is up and working again. It will not accept Mastercard debit.

    Cinderella's Closet of Mid-Missouri. Cinderella's closet is a non-profit business that provides assistance with gifting formal wear to young females. In order to qualify for their services, you will need to apply for a fitting date (see below). I have attached some information about Cinderella's Closet and the referral/application process. If you need an application form, Mrs. Shepard has some in my office and I will also have the QR codes hanging up as well.

    The 2023-2024 Yearbook is on sale and can be ordered online at 



    Did you forget to order your 2022-2023 FHS Yearbook? Or saw the yearbook, and now you want to purchase one? Well, you are in luck! There are a limited number of them on sale now for $30 per yearbook. See Mrs. Williams in the library or contact one of the yearbook staff members.

    Juniors are selling lollipops to raise money for prom. The cost is 1 for $2.00 or 3 for $5.00.


    Students that need to see Mrs. Shepard, please use the QR code posted around the school to set up an appointment. You may also email her if you can’t access those QR codes.


    Scholar Bowl Team practices will be every Wednesday and Thursday during 8th hour.


    Jostens graduation orders should now be done online at www.thegraduationcenter.com Extra packets and order forms are located at the office and the library.


    Addison Powell has a letterman jacket for sale for $200.00. Please see her for details.


    Seniors: Please do not park in the four parking places nearest the building next to the football field or the parking place adjacent to the disabled spaces. These are reserved for the Parents as Teachers Play Center.


    Students who have loaner Chromebooks from the Library need to return them ASAP. We will not be able to check out loaners if they are not returned at the end of the hour/day of which you are using the computer. If you have already received your one-to-one personal Chromebook, make sure you bring those to school every day. The loaners are needed for students that have yet to receive their personal Chromebook. When you return your loaner Chromebooks, please make sure you place them back on the chargers. 


    THERE SHOULD BE NO LIVESTREAMING DURING SCHOOL. Cell phones are only to be used by teacher's permission. Violations of this rule will result in a discipline referral.

    Tareva S. Williams-Anderson was a graduate of Central Methodist University who earned degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She passed away in November of 2021. She wanted to make people aware of the stigmas surrounding mental health. This scholarship is a one-time award between $250-$500. The deadline to submit the scholarship is Tuesday, April 30th.

    This scholarship is for African American, Native American, and Latino American females from a single-parent household in Howard and surrounding counties who are seeking a degree in Psychology or Psychiatric Studies. Candidates must submit a verified statement of their most recent GPA signed by the high school counselor. Candidates must also submit a handwritten paragraph telling why she deserves the scholarship and how it will help her obtain her goals. Submissions should be sent to the following address and they will notify the school by May 3rd. Mail submissions to:

    Application for the Howard County Farm Bureau Scholarship has been emailed to all seniors. The due date is April 19th and must include:

    • A typed essay of 500 words on the following topic: “The importance of agriculture and the role agriculture will play in my future”.

    • A current resume noting school, community and other activities. Please also include leadership positions held, honors and awards.

    To apply for this scholarship, parents must be members but not on our county board. Please turn all required application packets into Mrs. Shepard, then she will submit them to Farm Bureau.

    Mrs. Shepard emailed the scholarship application form for the PEO GG Chapter. The application must be submitted between March 20 through April 20. She also has copies in her office if you need one.

    If there is a college, university or trade school that you would like to come to FHS, please let Mrs. Shepard know so I can reach out to them.

    The AGA Mid-Missouri Chapter is now accepting applications for our Skip Eno Memorial Scholarship Program for Undergraduate college students.  For more information and to apply, please visit our website at:  https://midmoaga.org/Awards_Scholarships  Applications are due no later than May 1, 2024. I have a few applications in my office. AGA is the association for connecting and empowering professionals who support the government, from financial management to IT, human resources, cybersecurity and more, to accelerate their careers. We work together to advance good government initiatives and improve citizen trust in government.

    Good Shepherd Hospice is now accepting applications for student volunteers. This is a great opportunity to learn about a new career and add to your resume. Some of the programs include:

    • Social work

    • Human Services/Sociology

    • Theology

    • Gerontology/Family Studies

    • Office Administrative Programs

    • Future medical students

    • Future nursing students

    Hey seniors! Here are a couple of scholarship opportunities.

    1. Dr. R.F. Taylor Christian Leadership Award

    • Eligibility: Open to any graduating high school senior who resides in the Fayette R-3 School district, attending a private or public school, or who is homeschooled.

    • Requirements

      • Pastoral Reference

      • Community Reference

      • School Reference

    • Finalists: 3 finalists will be selected by the sponsor of the FHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes Students and a representative from the Fayette Ministerial Alliance

    • Award Winner: The award winner will be selected after conducting interviews with all three finalists. The award is $1,000.

    • The deadline for this scholarship is April 15th

    2.  Smith Chapel Scholarship


    ● Student must attend one of the following High Schools:

    1) Harrisburg High School

    2) Fayette High School

    3) Sturgeon High School

    ● Student must have an accumulative GPA of 2.5.

    ● Student must be enrolled in a college or technical school for the Fall Semester.

    ● The scholarship will be available in the fall once your college has confirmed that you are enrolled.

    *The deadline for this scholarship is April 30th.
